Hello Operator
The White Stripes

wirru:

I’ve decided to start uploading some of my favourite music on a regular basis; entitled “Will’s Music Box”

This is from The White Stripes’ second album, De Stijl. I love this track; it’s more refined than their debut work but still retains the homemade coarseness that makes their work so attractive to me.

The guitar is rough and unapologetic, it’s like a bold stroke of red paint which simultaneously overlays and submits to the drums. Meg’s drumwork is unfussed, crude even, but that kind of low down garage quality is what brings this track out.
